Dreamcatchers

Originating from the Ojibawa Indians from North America, the Dream catcher was traditionally used as a protective charm and was knows as a bawaajige nagwaagan (Dream Snare). Handcrafted from a willow hoop, with fine yarn to replicate a spider’s web, and adorned with personal belongings such as beads and feathers. It was believed that good spirits and dreams would pass through the web, and all bad spirits and bad dreams would become entangled in the web, to be destroyed by the morning Sun. Dream catchers can be found both far and wide around the world, and are still used as a protective charm by North American Indians.
